Hi there and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This year, I promise to keep this space up to date. It's been a hectic few months, you see. So many exciting things in the pipelines!

So first thing's first. Just before Christmas, I was ecstatic to find a box delivered to me from Amelia Gregory. It could only be one thing. Amelia's Compendium of Fashion Illustration. Beautifully printed and designed, Amelia's hard work has paid off magnificently, with each page and artist feature beautifully adorned with a different border and colour scheme to compliment the work submitted. All the illustrations in the book are by contributors to Amelia's Magazine, and all the clothes in the illustrations are by ethical designers. The book is made up of interviews (conducted by Amelia) with the designers and the illustrators, making the book a must for those who want to pick up a few tips, or grab an insight into the worlds of ethical fashion and fashion illustration.

The book is on sale here for a marvellous £20.

Prior to the excitement of #ACOFI's release, I was asked to design a Christmas card for East London IT firm Macnamara. Kate from Macnamara did a wonderful little feature on me for the News section of their website, which can be seen under the Wednesday 15th December 2010 entry (scroll down...) here. My final design consisted of festive hand drawn objects that built the shape of a Christmas tree, decorated by a branded ribbon in their company colour. You can see my design below.

This year, I also designed my mother's Christmas cards, which she sent off all over the place to her nearest and dearest! I know the image is grainy, but here was the end result (found in my aunt's display)! Next year, I will have many more designs that will be available to buy online in my shop!

Last, but by no means least, I was absolutely over the moon to see that I was featured in the 'Digital Digest' section of The Independent's Viewspaper yesterday. Without getting too cheesy and sentimental, it's little gestures like this that keep me going in this competitive business. So I'm dead chuffed. Here are 2 photos that are keeping me beaming!

Hello strangers!

I apologise for the lack of contact over the past few months, but both my personal and professional life has experienced some enormous (extremely positive and exciting) shifts lately. The latter will eventually be unveiled, but for now, I still have some very exciting news:

Amelia Gregory, of Amelia's Magazine is releasing a book. This book is called Amelia's Compendium of Fashion Illustration. It's bringing together some of best names in eco friendly fashion design through the medium of fashion illustration, provided by some of Amelia's dedicated team of wonderful contributing illustrators to her online blog. Amongst some other fantastic artists, I was lucky enough to be chosen as one of these, and cannot WAIT to see the end product.

Peculiar Bliss

I submitted this piece to the wonderful on-line magazine, Peculiar Bliss. In its third issue, the theme that characterises this edition was 'Dreamscape'.

Featuring interviews with Josh Lafayette and Rand Renfrow, as well as 20 other brilliant artists, I was dead chuffed when I found out I'd been included.

What an even greater surprise to find my panda was chosen to represent the project in Digital Artist Magazine!!

I'm well chuffed. Glad to be part of such a great and fun project.

It's been a mighty busy August! I have been working away at several projects, have been featured on a couple of websites and (drumroll.......................) MY WEBSITE HAS GONE LIVE.

There's lots to get through, so I'll start from the top.

The wonderful Mr Millerchip and Chris Nunn are starting up a press specialising in black and white illustration. Part of the project involves getting folk to design their own 'European Panda', an open brief, just so long as the end result is in black and white. This is my fury little man, Pascal. You can see the other submissions here

Illustration Rally is a brilliant international rolling collaboration for illustrators, run by the lovely Natsuki Otani . Each rally has a theme, and mine was 'Months of the Year'. This is my 'April' I was featured this week! Click here to see.

Fat Rat Films is a wonderful film production company, working with charities and making political documentaries. Not long ago they asked me to design their logo. It was a challenge coming up with something that is simple, easily adaptable in terms of colour for use in different projects, yet also something that isn't silly that could possibly diminish the serious nature of the work they do. This was the final design, in 'Transformer Grey'.

I have done a couple of illustrations for Amelia's Magazine recently. This one is for womenswear label Masha Ma. Read the article, written by Ester Kneen, here.

Last but not least, last week my WEBSITE WENT LIVE! Thank you to the very brilliant Christopher Peacock!! I now know a bit of coding too, which is a miracle in itself.

I have been getting into my patterns again recently, so I decided to design one dedicated to the Smart Car, using the Smart Car as a main element.

Caribou Poster for the Brudenell Social Club

I bloody love Caribou, so when I saw he was heading down to play the Brudenell Social Club (a wonderful place I used to frequent when I lived in Leeds)in November later this year, I thought I'd do a poster to keep my creative juices flowing.

Nath from the Brudenell saw my work and told me that although he has a poster design already (it's going to be a pretty massive gig) he'd get a few of mine printed too.

Colonel Windpipe's Magical Marching Parade

When I first heard on Twitter that Lesley Barnes and Matt Williams (AKA Uberkraaft) were doing a collaboration, I got a little bit excited to see what they'd come up with. Little did I know that they were formulating a plan that was so great, so brilliant that we could all have a dabble in.

Enter Colonel Windpipe, a splended fellow, who is recruiting for his Magical Marching Band. To have a look, follow this link.

With many fellow illustrators on board, drawing up their own musical members, the plan is to devise a processional print of the marchers, to be sold for charity.

Amelia's Magazine Illustrations!

Over the past week, I have been busying myself with 6 illustrations for the brilliant Amelia's Magazine, on two very different articles.

The first, written by Jonno Ovans, is about Blow PRs event at the Royal Festival Hall, showcasing fantastic, vibrant examples Young Indian Fashion. You can read the article here!

The second piece, by Amelia Wells, is about the Greenpeace Airplot Campaign to prevent the building of the third runway at Heathrow. By May 1st, they are aiming to have 100,000 beneficial owners of a plot of land right in the midst of the proposed runway site. Read the full interview with campaigner Anna Jones here.

As I've mentioned, I've been on a course for the past fortnight. Normally, I draw by hand, so I thought I'd throw myself into some digital projects to put what I'd been looking at to practice! I have a few things to showcase, but for now I'll leave you with something very different to anything I'd usually do. Based on the Edward Lear poem, let me introduce: The Owl and the Pussy-Cat. :-D

I have been on Graphic Design course for the past week, so have not had much time to update you with what my pens have been getting up to. If I'm honest....not a lot, being re-swamped (as it were) by education after so long is pretty tiring! Having said that, I have been manipulating a recent piece that is almost ready for your eyes! There is a strange excitement every time I upload anything anywhere on the internet. Y'know, seeing who sees it, picking up constructive criticism and the occasional kind word! I become that little child waiting for their birthday party all over again. Inbetween spurts of HTML deciphering, entwined with my ongoing website building mission (interrupted by the constant need for coffee, tea..or both), today I finally set up my very own fanpage on Facebook, inviting everyone I know personally. In a nutshell, the past week has seen me fresh back from Poland's capital in London Town, to then take a very emotional trip to March in Cambridgeshire, followed by a swift return to the Big Smoke for Broken Sounds Moth In The Motor Arts Project that was featuring a piece of my work (it was great, nice one Chris), a night stop-off in Bristol for a reunion, finally finding myself back where I began.

I'm tired.

Unfortunately, the past weeks necessary travels have managed entirely to take over, leaving me with little time to muster up a bit of creativity, with which to destroy a blank canvas, etc.

I did however manage to draw this, both on the train and in my blokes parents kitchen.

On one hand I am beginning to realise that I am perhaps overusing my Moleskine.. On the other, it's so damn portable, I've found myself drawing almost everywhere.

Having just returned from a weekend in Warsaw, I'd like to post up the stuff I got on with at the weekend.

'Ah! I've Been Expecting You' is a doodle I started on Thursday in front of the box in London Town. It was a mouse, then a rat and now it looks like some kind of amalgamation of the two with a bit of Cyril Sneer from 'The Racoons' vaguely chucked in the mix. The text came in after a joke with my brother.

'Hello! (Revised)' is actually just the finished version of last weeks post as I decided my ladybird was missing a friend!

The final piece, 'Wedding Orchids' was started yesterday afternoon before I left Warsaw. The majority of it was done on the flight home and on the Heathrow Express, and finished before my head hit the pillow. My brother bet I couldn't finish it before I got home, and ok, he might have won, but I was close! I had one cm to go of the background when I got through the front door. Bit of sibling rivalry, bit of motivation!

So after a week of frantically packing up my life for the 6th in the last year, as well as finishing off illustration projects and tying up loose ends in Leeds, I'm finally moved back in down south.

Despite the hectic week, I still managed to churn out some stuff.

Never managed to upload anything last week, but that doesn not mean that I have not been hard at it..

The past week has included doing a couple of love-sketches (sketches done solely for the love of drawing, without any really purpose-YET). Uploaded one above, see: "Woo(l)f".

Have finally sorted out a bit of a NM (NeltonMandelton) logo-ey thingy-ma-bob. Check it out below. It graces my Twitter page. Next stop, work on a background to replace the Ziganovs! They've had their day.

I have been doing some artwork for Moroccan/North African restuarant 'Moorish' in Hyde Park, Leeds. They're pretty chuffed as they has just been featured in this months Jamie Oliver's magazine 'Jamie'. Here's a poster I did for them to advertise that brilliant achievement!
